On July 9, 2017, the final match of Health Qigong mass tournament of China’s 13th National Games was held at the Dagang Sports Center in Binhai New Area of Tianjin. Mr. CHANG Jianping, the Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the IHQF and President of Chinese Health Qigong Association, said he hopes the positive effect of National Games can help the Health Qigong population grow to 10 million by 2020.
Mr. CHANG also said that we must first attach importance to building the foundations for Health Qigong development, including compiling scientific textbooks and fostering talents. Moreover, Chinese Health Qigong Association has instituted The Health Qigong Action Plan of Healthy China 2020, which clearly states the tasks for the future. We will carry out the plan in a steady manner, striving to realize the goal in which the populations of Health Qigong practitioners grow up to 10 million by 2020.
In terms of Health Qigong becoming a competition programme of the mass tournament in national games, Mr. CHANG believes that this phenomenon fully reflects the great attention paid to the works of Health Qigong by General Administration of Sport of China (GASC), and will play an immense role in promoting the development of Health Qigong.
Mr. CHANG told that, after Health Qigong became a competition programme of mass tournament in national games, a lot of local Health Qigong tournaments and qualification matches for National Games were held across the country, in which about one million Health Qigong enthusiasts took part.
