III. The meeting of the Mingmen Point and the Shenque Point can make the yin and the yang harmonious and improve vitality.
According to TCM theories, the Mingmen Point of the Governor Vessel is located under the second lumbar spinous on human’s back. This point is the resting place of essence and mind, the foundation of the viscera, the root of the twelve meridians, the gate of breath and the source of the triple energizers.
Also, the Shenque Point of the Conception Vessel is located on the central line on the front part of the body passing the navel. It is the door of the “emperor” palace, that is, the living place of vitality.
The backward-bending movement of “Golden Rooster Heralds the Dawn” can effectively stimulate both the Mingmen Point of the Governor Vessel and the Shenque Point of the Conception Vessel. Thus, it can, at a certain extent, connect the body's front part and the back part, make the yin and the yang harmonious, dredge vessels and meridians, normalize the activity of viscera and greatly increase vitality.
IV. The movements can promote the connecting functions of the Belt Vessel, the Thoroughfare Vessel, the Yin Link Vessel and the Yang Link Vessel, fully improving the body's performance.
According to TCM theories, the Yin Link Vessel starts from the point where the three yin meridians of foot meet on the inner side of the lower leg, goes upward along the inner side of the lower limbs to the abdomen, goes together with the spleen meridian of foot-taiyin to the ribs to meet the meridians of foot-jueyin and then rises to the throat to meet the Conception Vessel.
The Yang Link Vessel starts from the outer heels, goes parallelly with the gallbladder meridian of foot-shaoyang, rises along the outer side of the lower limbs, passes the outer side of the torso...and meets the Governor Vessel.
The word “Link” here indicates the functions of these vessels. The Yin Link Vessel can link all the yin and the Yang Link Vessel can link all the yang in the body.
The Thoroughfare Vessel starts from the abdominal cavity, goes out from the perineum, becomes parallel with the meridian of foot-shaoyin from the qi thoroughfare, rises past the navel, streches in the chest, goes up through the throat, circles the mouth and lips and reaches the orbits. The Belt Vessel goes horizontally around the waist... Its main duty is to rule all the vessels and meridians.
When doing the routine “Golden Rooster Heralds the Dawn”, the exerciser has his one foot pressing the ground and the other foot stretching backward according to the body’s back bending movement, and then retreating back regularly. Besides dredging the Conception Vessel and the Governor Vessel, it is also proved that the routine can provoke the linking functions of the Yang Link Vessel and the Yin Link Vessel and excite the related yang meridians and yin meridians. Furthermore, the movements can improve the functions of the Belt Vessel which “governs all the meridians” and connects vessels and meridians passing the waist and abdomen, and that of the Thoroughfare Vessel which links the upper body and the lower body, nourishes the three yin and the three yang. Finally, all the vessels and meridians are unblocked, and the body’s functions are fully improved.
That is a brief conclusion of the cultural connotation of “Golden Rooster Heralds the Dawn” in Health Qigong Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong Shi Er Fa. I hope you can relate the cultural connotation and the Qigong practice closely together and realize the goal of bodybuilding.
